Week 9: Background and Character Revisions


Art

This week was focused on creating and revising the backgrounds needed for Act 1. This started with created and coloring the amulets box found on the merchant’s table and a close up of the caves exit when looking from the interior. After this I made the backgrounds darker to match the coloring of the fortress and more details across the backgrounds mainly with cracks on the walls, shadows, and the fire and cooking pot. I also had fog through the backgrounds involving the cave to give them more ambience. Lastly based on feedback, I tried to give the scenes better lighting in the cave and make the fog look better within blender; I wasn’t getting the results I wanted so I within blender so I put the backgrounds into photoshop and managed to get the lighting look how I wanted.

Character

In the middle of this week, I finished up the players character sheet of the amulet. Out of the multiple color concepts, with some feedback we went the white and gold color scheme for the amulet with the purple soul inside of it. Slight changes were made to the design switching out the rope with a chain and adding a slight blue around the soul in the amulet.

Tasks and Timekeeping

  • Jadin (Total~ 7.5 hours)
    • Updated the player characters sheet with its final colors and slight design change: 0.7 hours.
    • Created new mockups that would be needed for the cave: 1.5 hours.
    • Made revisions to backgrounds based on feedback focusing on detailing and lighting: 5.3 hours.
